Syncro on Tuesday launched its own Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, giving partners a direct way to connect data with AI assistants including Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. Dee Zepf, Syncro's chief product officer, said the launch is less about adding another AI feature and more about opening the platform so managed service providers can connect Syncro directly into the broader AI ecosystem. The move comes as MSPs increasingly view MCP as purchase criteria for platform extensibility, according to the Seattle-based vendor.
The MCP server allows MSPs to interact with Syncro data through voice commands on their phones without logging into the platform. Marc Enzor, owner of Tucson, Arizona-based Guardian IT and Geeks 2 You, said the best part about Syncro is its API, calling it "really well-developed" with extensive functionality his team uses heavily. The launch is part of a broader effort by Syncro to embed AI throughout its platform. The company has already introduced AI ticket summaries and is rolling out Automated Ticket Triage and Dispatch, which can prioritize incoming tickets and recommend the best-fit technician based on skills, availability, workload and previous client work. Guided Ticket Resolution, coming in September, will match issues with known fixes and is expected to resolve up to 20 percent of tickets automatically.
Zepf told CRN that MSPs are viewing MCP "almost like it's an API 2.0" and that it's becoming a purchase criterion for platform extensibility. She said letting people plug Syncro into the AI ecosystem "just felt like a critical move to make." For MSPs who typically work around the clock, being able to use voice commands to get ticket updates, create new tickets, or escalate something for a client in 30 seconds without logging in is "really just a game-changer," according to Zepf.
The capability addresses a core challenge for managed service providers who operate outside traditional business hours and need rapid access to client information. Zepf said customers will benefit most from the feature, though MSPs will see time and cost savings. Having information at their fingertips will give MSPs the ability to provide higher-value, more timely service, she explained. The company is keeping the platform open rather than building AI as another isolated destination, making the MCP server available to all partners across all plans. Syncro believes strongly in an open platform and open ecosystem, focusing on being part of the ecosystem and helping people take advantage of innovation happening across the AI landscape. The platform approach means MSPs can choose their preferred AI assistant rather than being locked into a single vendor's toolset, a shift that reflects how infrastructure expectations are evolving in the managed services market.
