Trustifi has launched Collaboration Shield, a platform designed to help managed service providers secure Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint environments, according to an exclusive report from CRN. The New York-based cybersecurity vendor is extending its email-grade security capabilities across Microsoft 365 collaboration applications, giving MSPs a way to detect sensitive data, enforce security policies, monitor activity and investigate incidents across multiple customer environments. The launch represents Trustifi's expansion beyond its traditional email filtering and data loss prevention offerings.
The platform provides MSPs with visibility into attacks that move laterally through collaboration tools after user accounts are compromised. It supports more than 70 built-in sensitivity types including personally identifiable information, financial records, health-care data, passwords, API keys and private credentials. The system is built with a fully multi-tenant architecture, allowing partners to move, copy or apply policies across one customer or hundreds of customers simultaneously. Industry templates based on best practices from Trustifi's partner community enable quick deployment for health care, financial services and legal clients without building policies from scratch each time.
"Cybercriminals aren't stopping at the inbox anymore. They're compromising user accounts and then moving laterally through Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive because those environments often don't have the same level of visibility or protection that email does," Zack Schwartz, vice president of strategic partnerships at Trustifi, told CRN. The platform came directly from feedback from MSP partners and real-world incidents, according to Schwartz. Once attackers get inside, they're trying to reach privileged users and ultimately gain access to the most valuable systems, he said. The centralized platform gives MSPs one place to manage email and collaboration security, making it easier to trace an attack from the initial email into Teams or SharePoint, see where it spread, identify affected users and take action from a single interface.
The biggest challenge is that activities inside Microsoft 365 often happen without administrators knowing about them, from accidental sharing of confidential files to compromised accounts distributing malware across an organization, according to the report. As organizations rely more on Microsoft 365 tools to share files and communicate, attackers are exploiting internal accounts to spread malware and reach sensitive data, and many MSPs struggle because they lack visibility into those environments. Collaboration Shield gives MSPs visibility into those activities, helps them establish policies, identifies sensitive information and automates responses before situations become larger security incidents.
Looking ahead, Trustifi's road map includes expanding the platform into Google environments and potentially Slack, with investment in AI-powered security awareness training that uses real user behavior to create personalized training. The road map is being driven directly by MSP partner feedback, with advisory groups helping shape what Trustifi builds next. For existing partners like TekEfficient, the new platform represents a natural upsell opportunity across thousands of customers already using Trustifi through the channel, creating what Schwartz described as an easy way to give clients a more complete view of their cyber resilience. The shift reflects how MSPs must now defend not just the perimeter but the collaboration layer where users actually work, a surface that traditional email security never covered.
